About the German Shorthaired Pointer
The Breed
The origin of the German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP), as with many breeds, is not clear, but the source of the breed seems to have been the German Bird Dog, related to the old Spanish Pointer, and various crossings with local German scent hounds and track-and-trail dogs.
The GSP epitomizes the qualities desired in a versatile hunter and all-purpose gun dog. His keen nose, high intelligence, endurance, natural pointing and retrieving ability, good looks, sound temperament, and longevity make the German Shorthaired Pointer a favorite with sportsmen and families everywhere.
